In Britain Terry Wogan has received a knighthood from Queen Elizabeth.
The Limerick-born broadcaster has dual Irish and British citizenship which allows him to have a regular knighthood and to use the title 'Sir'.
67-year-old Wogan, who started his broadcasting career at RTÉ,
has been one of Britain's most popular radio and TV presenters for four decades.
He went to Buckingham Palace to collect his knighthood this morning, accompanied by his wife Helen and his sons Alan and Mark.
As an Irish citizen, he was first awarded an honorary knighthood in June last year.
But since then he has acquired dual Irish and British citizenship which now allows him to receive a regular knighthood from the British sovereign.
He said he was surprised and delighted to receive the honour.
