FAI anger Minister with Delaney offer

The Minister for Sport, John O'Donoghue, has warned the FAI may lose Government funding after their refusal to implement elements of the Genesis report before the new year.

The Minister wants the FAI to publicly advertise two positions in the FAI - Chief Executive and Director of Finance before the new year.

However, the FAI are not doing this and the Minister told RTÉ his morning that Government funding is in doubt until they implement the recommendations of Genesis.

The row arose after John Delaney was offered the position as chief executive of the association on an interim basis. He was backed unanimously by the association's board and National council.
