Slane Castle, Music fans throng the venue
At least seven people have been arrested at today's U2 gig at Slane Castle. Charges range from public order offences to larceny. There have also been more than 90 drug seizures.
Despite the arrests, Gardaí have reported a relatively quiet day. Speaking to RTÉ News, Chief Superintendent Mick Finnegan said that from a Garda point of view it is a very good operation. He added that the crowd was excellently behaved.
The line up featured five support acts - Relish, JJ72, Coldplay, Kelis and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. They entertained the crowd throughout the evening. Main act U2 took to the stage at around 8pm tonight.
This was the band's first Irish gig since 1997. The will return to the Meath venue next Saturday. Some 80,000 fans thronged the grounds of Slane Castle for today's concert. Dublin Bus is providing buses returning immediately after the concert.
