IMAX cinema in Dublin to close down

Dublin's IMAX cinema in Parnell Street is to close down this evening. The 370-seat building, which opened in June, 1998, is owned by the Sheridan Group in Belfast and has three managers, four projectionists and eight floor staff. Staff were only told of the closure a few days ago. The IMAX system uses 3-D projectors onto a screen as tall as three double-decker buses. Two restaurants in the same complex closed down in recent weeks.
