Marion Cotillard refused to "give energy" to rumours connecting her romantically to her Allied co-star Brad Pitt, because she knew the gossip was ridiculous.

The 41-year-old French actress found herself embroiled in Brad's separation from wife Angelina Jolie in September, amid tabloid claims a secret love affair with the 52-year-old led to the demise of the Hollywood superstars' marriage.

The rumour mill went into overdrive as it emerged Marion was pregnant with her second child prompting many media outlets to claim that Pitt was the father of her unborn child.

Cotillard, who is notoriously private about her personal life, felt compelled to address the false claims on social media, saying her longtime partner Guillaume Canet, was the "father of our son and of the baby we are expecting".

Despite issuing a statement to set the record straight, Cotillard reveals she did not let the rumours get to her.

"I never take anything personally when it doesn't concern me...," she explained on U.S. breakfast show Today. "I had nothing to do with those rumours or situations."

She also insisted the unwanted publicity surrounding the Robert Zemeckis film had no impact on her experience shooting the World War Two spy thriller.

"I don't give energy to this," Marion said. "It was a wonderful, wonderful experience working with such a visionary director and an amazing actor, so that's all that matters, you know?"

Allied will be released in cinemas nationwide from November 25.
