Abduction drama The Missing returns for a second season while David Oyelowo is superb as a disturbed war veteran in HBO psychological drama Nightingale.
Pick of the day
The Missing, 9.00pm, BBC One
The first season of this gripping drama - starring James Nesbit as a man whose son disappears on holiday in France during the 2006 World Cup - was excellent. But can the show develop with a new story and almost brand new cast?
It’s late 2014 and Abigail Hardingham stars as Alice Webster, a young British woman who suddenly reappears in Eckhausen in Germany, where she was abducted 11 years before.
Her return sends shock waves through the tight-knit local community, as her family are thrown into turmoil. As the search for the abductor gathers pace, Alice also appears to hold vital clues to the whereabouts of a second missing girl, whose disappearance was investigated back in 2003.
Big plus: Keeley Hawes is among the cast. Anything she's in is always excellent.

The ghosts annoy Bertram, asking him to help with personal business unfinished when they died. One of the spooks, Frank Herlihy (Greg Kinnear) promises to keep the other ghosts away if Bertram breaks up an engagement between Frank's widow Gwen (Téa Leoni) and Richard (Billy Campbell).

David Oyelowo, who was outstanding as Martin Luther King Jr in Selma, plays Peter Snowden, a vet suffering from PTSD who has just murdered his mother. Expect another spellbinding performance from the former Spooks star.
