Actress Keira Knightley has admitted to wearing wigs for the past five years, having suffered from hair loss due to dyeing her hair for movie roles.

Speaking to InStyle magazine, the Pirates of the Caribbean star revealed "For the past five years I’ve used wigs, which is the greatest thing that’s ever happened to my hair. I have dyed my hair virtually every colour imaginable, for different films. It got so bad that my hair literally began to fall out of my head.”

The 31 year old, who welcomed her first daughter Edie, with musician husband James Righton last year, also spoke of how motherhood had affected her hair. “I have naturally crazy, curly hair - and since I’ve had the baby, it’s become 10 times thicker. So now I’ve been finding quite a lot of dreadlocks”, she said.

The British actress is hotly tipped to star as the Sugar Plum Fairy in the new Disney live-action version of The Nutcracker. Other stars reported to have signed up for the movie include Morgan Freeman, and ballerina Misty Copeland.
