The boss of Netflix has promised fans of Making a Murderer that the new series will drop plenty of new bombshells and reveal information that wasn't previously disclosed.
Ted Sarandos made the announcement during a conference with television critics in the United States.
“There is a ton of info that wasn’t explored just in the confines of the episodes we’ve already done,” he revealed. “There’s a lot of new information coming up.”
Netflix recently announced that new episodes of the hit documentary series are currently in production.
The first season of the incredibly addictive show from producers and directors Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos was a huge hit with viewers. The latest instalments will continue the story as convicted murderer Steven Avery and his co-defendant, Brendan Dassey challenge their convictions.
Avery's new lawyer Kathleen Zellner has given exclusive access to the documentary makers for the series, as well as Dassey's legal team, led by Laura Nirider and Steve Drizin.
Zellner recently said there are new key suspects involved in the case and said that they all knew Halbach. While more details of any new developments remain a well-guarded secret, Sarandos is confident the filmmakers will unearth new information.
“The folks who are associated with it are under exclusive agreement with us. The information they’re bringing up is totally proprietary. It’s going to be a fascinating follow-up.”
While viewers here wait for news of when the new episodes will be made available, they will have a chance to hear more about the case when Avery's previous defence lawyers Dean Strang and Jerry Buting return to Ireland in September.
The pair are holding a number of public talks around the country on failures in the US criminal justice system.
