Mrs Brown’s Boys star Brendan O’Carroll has generously donated €32,000 to a grieving family after hearing the tragic story of Sarah Paino, a heavily pregnant mother who died in a car crash in Hobart, Tazmania last week.

The comedian was on tour in Australia when he heard about the 24 year old's tragic death. Sarah, was 32 weeks pregnant at the time of the accident and remarkably her baby survived.

Brendan was appearing on television news show The Project and offered to give Sarah’s partner Daniel, her two-year-old son Jordan, and her newborn son a donation live on air.

The show was doing a report about a fundraising campaign for the family that had already raised over AUS $150,000, before Brendan chose to make his kind gesture.

"We’re very much a family so if it’s okay with you guys, we as the Brown family would like to donate 50 grand (€32,000) to that fund," O'Carroll said on the show.

We're travelling out to do the show in Hobart and we hope to make you guys smile - but in the meantime Hobart's been really good to us and we'd want to get a chance to be good back".

It's not the first big-hearted act by the comedian. Earlier this month he paid for the burial of a homeless Polish man who had died in Ennis Co. Clare and had remained in a morgue for two weeks because the costs couldn't be met.

Last summer he also gave €30,000 to one of the guests while he was filling in as host on the Marian Finucane Show on RTÉ Radio 1.

He gave the money to help fund a business venture, saying "I’ll put €30,000 quid in front of you and see if that idea works.”

“I am a very very lucky guy, I have a movie [Mrs Brown’s Boys D’Movie] out this weekend and its going to make me a fortune!” he said.
