ITV News has apologised after featuring footage of celebrity chef Ainsley Harriott instead of Lenny Henry in a report about the comedian receiving his knighthood.
During the report on Friday's lunchtime news there was a clip of Harriott dancing onstage at London's Comedy Store in between clips from Henry's TV career.
When making the apology, an ITV News spokesman cited an error in the production process.
It is understood the broadcaster has contacted both stars to apologise. Henry was being honoured for services to charity and drama.
Tweeting about the blunder, Goodness Gracious Me star Sanjeev Bhaskar wrote: "ITV news used a clip of Ainsley Harriott when interviewing Lenny Henry about his knighthood. They may have misunderstood diversity issues."
Other Twitter users also had great fun with the onscreen gaffe and poked merciless fun at the hapless broadcaster.
Congratulations Sir Lenny of Henry! pic.twitter.com/kzwQ8NwnJU
