Something For The Weekend: Tara Erraught's Cultural Picks

Celebrated for her rich voice, expansive range and dynamic stage presence worldwide, Irish-born mezzo-soprano Tara Erraught enjoys an ever-growing international career on the opera, orchestral and recital stages. She returns to the Dublin stage in a brand new production of Mozart's Don Giovanni, produced by Opera Theatre Company and translated by Roddy Doyle, which plays at The Gaiety Theatre from Sept 29-Oct 2 as part of this year's Dublin Theatre Festival.

Film

Beaches - a film I have always loved, and recently introduced my best friend to. Ageless, and Bette Midler is wonderful as always!

Music

After a day 'at the office' you just come home to Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, relax and chill. Then, for a walk I love Neil Diamond, Barbara Streisand - power ballads all round!

Book

According to Yes by Dawn French. It's a wonderful, funny, warm, unpredictable read!

TV

Cold Feet!!! The first episode of the new series reminded me how great it was years ago! Also: Great British Bake Off....

Gig

Culture Night, one of the most wonderful cultural evenings of the year in Ireland. Every corner has something else to see/hear... Well worth spending your day in Dublin to experience as much as possible. I sang last year with the super RTÉ Concert Orchestra, and it was such a special atmosphere!

Radio

There are so many things here, it is very hard to pick just one or two. RTÉ Radio 1 in the morning to catch up on the news (even when I am on the road, I play it on the app) then I wouldn't miss Liz Nolan on RTÉ lyric fm, and in the evening and Dublin's Q102, for non-stop classics.

Tech

I have a few MUST have apps for travelling, Expensify (for receipts), TripCase (to keep an eye on flights, gate numbers, changes, delays etc) and Wondershare (an app for watching videos offline, very nifty for travelling).

The Next Big Thing

My brother Cian Erraught is an increadible MMA fighter! He trains non stop, his dedication is so inspiring! He currently trains out of SBG Dublin. Fighting worldwide, his next dates include EFC Worldwide in South Africa.
