    U2 play the Point Depot in Dublin on New Year's Eve 1989. This was the last of four gigs in Dublin. The show was broadcast live on radio in Ireland by RTÉ and throughout Europe on BBC. RTÉ Television went live to the Point Depot as part of its New Year's Eve programme.

    'End of a Decade' presenter Pat Kenny links to the Point Depot just before midnight. On stage Dave Fanning counts down to midnight and introduces U2 to the audience and radio listeners across Europe. 

    Shown here are edited highlights of U2 coming on stage and performing 'Where the Streets Have No Name' and 'I will Follow'.

    Back in the television studio Pat Kenny talks to two older women who say they would love to be at the U2 concert.

    'End of a Decade' was RTÉ Television's New Year's Eve programme for 1989. For much of the programme a panel looked back on the previous decade using archive clips. 

    The highlight of the programme was going to the U2 concert at the Point Depot. The concert was being broadcast across Europe on radio but U2 had allow RTÉ television access to show two songs.
