Shay Healy visits a packed Irish pub for a traditional music session in New York.

Shay Healy visits Paddy Reilly's Bar in New York in 'Evening Extra's' St Patrick's Day special from 1988. The Irish pub's Thursday night traditional music sessions are very popular with ex-pats, who tell Healy how much culture and tradition means to you when you emigrate. Healy talks to the bar's manager, Stevie Duggan, a well-known Gaelic footballer who has been in New York for four and a half years now. The traditional music sessions were his idea,as he has some very good musician friends. They started three months ago, and have "become one of the best seisiúns in the United States". There are a lot of young musicians coming through now because of the emigration from Ireland.
