Goodbye House is a brand new six part series starting on RTÉ One next Tuesday 24th September, and features people who have made the decision to downsize from their family home - with a twist. Instead of choosing potential new properties themselves, they will leave it in the hands of their nearest and dearest, their family and friends, to choose the potential properties for them.
The series features 'downsizers' from all walks of life and from all over Ireland, who are looking for new beginnings. In each episode, they will visit three potential properties that their closest friends or family have chosen for them to start their new chapter. But what will the reactions be when the ‘downsizer’ can only pick one property which they feel is right for them…
Episode one features Anne Lynch who is living close to Swinford town in Co. Mayo. Anne is 65 years of age, a practicing Physiotherapist for Pieta House. Her much loved husband Michael passed away two years ago after a short illness. Anne’s world crumbled with Michael’s death and she knows it is time to downsize from her family home, but she needs help. Her current property Whitethorn Cottage has two homes on 35 acres of land and is just too much for her to look after herself. She is looking to move to a property that is low maintenance and within her budget of €240,000. Anne chooses three of her best friends, Breege, Margaret and Helena to take up the task of finding her her new home…but will they know Anne as well as she thinks and what will the reactions be from her friends to each of the properties.
