Dublin manager Mick Bohan believes that his side's All-Ireland final victory over Kerry is one the best performance he’s seen from any Dubs team.

Bohan's charges ran out 0-18 to 1-10 winners over Kerry at Croke to lift the Brendan Martin Cup, having come a long way over the course of the season.

Dublin came unstuck against Donegal in the quarter-finals last year and since that game, have been forced to embark on a rebuilding exercise.

Losing the likes of Sinead Goldrick and Ciara Trant forced the Dubs to look to youth and it was a successful blending of experienced hands and up and coming stars that helped Bohan’s side lift their first All-Ireland in three years.

Speaking to RTÉ Sport afterward, Bohan paid tribute to the squad’s veteran players and backroom staff for making such an integration possible.

"There’s two things that stand out to me today," he said. "One is the work that the older group put into the younger group was just tremendous because we were on our knees in October/November time.

"The second is the amount of work that came from the coaching and support staff, it’s just been incredible.

"To put a performance on like that on the biggest of days, I think that goes down with any performance we’ve had.

"The achievement this year has been far greater than any of the things we've done before because we really started at the ashes.

"Last October and November, the only thing we wanted to do was try and make the group competitive.

"The last seven or eight weeks they’ve just been coming together but there was no guarantees with so much youth, how they’d deal with the occasion."

Hannah Tyrrell was one of those senior players that Bohan referenced and she played a huge role against Kerry, kicking eight points on the way to victory.

She too attributed Dublin’s success to that blend of youth and experience and hailed the contribution of the younger squad members.

"I was just getting on the end of things my team-mates were creating and I was very thankful for them to be going over.

"It was just a great team performance from 1 to 20. We’re just so delighted to get over the line, we’ve worked really hard this year.

"Some of the youngsters really stepped up and the experienced girls were fantastic in helping to bring them on."
