Munster pair Liam O'Connor and Roman Salanoa will miss the province's United Rugby Championship opener against the Cell C Sharks this Saturday.

The front row pair have been forced out with injuries, with loosehead O'Connor set to see a specialist over a neck/arm issue.

Tighthead Salanoa is being assessed by the province's medical department following a knee injury.

The Hawaiian-born prop is still waiting for his first start for Munster, making seven appearances off the bench in his debut season having joined from Leinster in 2020.

New signing Jason Jenkins had previously been ruled out of the meeting with the Sharks this Saturday (live on RTÉ2 AND RTÉ Player), and continues to rehab a shoulder injury.

In better news, the province say RG Snyman has made further progress in his return from the knee injury sustained against Leinster 13 months ago.

Snyman is increasing his involvement in training with the team, with the province previously hopeful he could return to action in October.
