Laura Siegemund won her maiden WTA title by beating Katerina Siniakova 7-5 6-1 in the Ericsson Open final in Bastad.

German Siegemund, seeded sixth, came through a hard-fought opening set against the Czech Republic's Siniakova before going on to seal a comfortable victory in 83 minutes.

Siniakova, 20, was playing in her first WTA final, while Siegemund, 28, who reached the final of the Porsche Grand Prix in Stuttgart as a qualifier earlier in the season, will climb up to 32 in the world rankings following her first WTA success.

Siegemund defeated Julia Goerges in the semi-final, leading 4-6 6-3 4-0 before her fellow German was forced to withdraw due to a hip injury. World number 92 Siniakova beat last year's Swedish champion and home favourite Johanna Larsson in her last-four clash.
