Francesca Schiavone today claimed her third career title with a 6-1 6-1 thrashing of fellow Italian Roberta Vinci at the Barcelona Ladies Open.
Schiavone fully justified her status as top seed with a completely one-sided victory wrapped up in just 59 minutes.
The 29-year-old from Milan broke Vinci's serve twice in the first set and held her own four times, despite managing to get just 54% of her first serves in.
Vinci was unable to convert any of the three break points she created and it was a similar story in the second set, Schiavone claiming three breaks of serve and upping her first serve percentage to an impressive 82.
Fatigue could well have played a part in the match, with Vinci having to recover from a set down to win a long semi-final with Romania's Alexandra Dulgheru yesterday.
And the 27-year-old world number 54 had also reached today's final of the doubles, so at least had the chance to claim some silverware.
