Croatia won the Davis Cup on Sunday when they completed a 3-2 win over Slovakia.
Mario Ancic beat Michael Mertinak in the decisive final rubber 7-6 (7/1), 6-3, 6-4 as Croatia clinched the trophy for the first time.
Earlier, Dominik Hrbaty beat Ivan Ljubicic 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 to level the tie 2-2.
The 22nd-ranked Ancic, protege of Croatian tennis hero Goran Ivanisevic, came through in 2hr 50min against the 165th-ranked Mertinak who had replaced Karol Kucera.
The title marks a milestone for Croatia, winner in the first trophy showdown between first-time finalists since 1975.
Ancic's victory set off mad celebrations in the tiny, 4,100-capacity Sibamac arena among Croatian fans.
