Danny Mandroiu did not hide his delight as he toasted SSE Airtricity League glory with Shamrock Rovers on Friday night.

The attacking midfielder scored twice for the Hoops against Finn Harps to seal the club's 19th title and the first league medal of his career.

Speaking to RTÉ Sport at full-time after the 3-0 win at Tallaght Stadium, the Republic of Ireland Under-21 cap, who had made the move from Dublin derby rivals Bohemians last December, was already turning his thoughts towards next season's title defence.

"I love winning. I love winning trophies, scoring goals," he added.

"Yeah I'm here and what a club this is. First year here, I'm so happy. We won the league, wow."

Mandroiu scored the first of his two goals just four minutes into the game against Harps, before completing his brace just 19 minutes later.

"That's what we wanted, to come and start strongly and basically win the game in the first half, 60 minutes, bury them," he said.

"That's what we did. I thought we controlled the whole game and listen, it's not about me. I scored two goals but it's about the lads in there. (They have been) terrific all season. We're champions for a reason.

"We're champions again and I'm buzzing."
