There will be just one SSE Airtricity Premier Division match played this week as four games have now been postponed due to international call-ups.
Republic of Ireland Under-21 manager Jim Crawford has named an extended squad for their away qualifier against Montenegro due to the country not being on the green list for UK travel.
Under the current guidelines in Britain and Germany, any UK or German based Ireland Under-21 player would be forced to undergo a period in quarantine before returning to their clubs if they travel to Montenegro for the second game of this international window.
The FAI are still awaiting a final outcome on the scenario, but 13 additional players based in Ireland have been named in the squad as a back-up in case of mass withdrawals.
Two Premier Division matches had already been deferred because the original squad named to play Luxembourg in Dublin (Live on RTÉ 2 and RTÉ Player) contains several domestic players.
Finn Harps v Drogheda United and St Patrick's Athletic v Bohemians were called off – as well as two matches in the First Division – Galway United v Bray Wanderers and UCD v Treaty United.
Postponements can be requested if a side is missing two players – a scenario which occurred in all of those fixtures.
With the second squad still possibly needed, the FAI have confirmed Waterford’s match with Derry City and Sligo Rovers hosting Longford Town will also not place.
Derry, Sligo and Longford all have two players chosen from the 13 additional players selected.
Galway United manager John Caulfield has said that League of Ireland players are being treated "like guinea pigs" in the scenario.
Dundalk will host Shamrock Rovers at Oriel Park on Friday night (Live on RTÉ 2 and RTÉ Player) in the only remaining top-flight fixture.
The Hoops will be without Aidomo Emakhu as he is on Irish Under-19 duty, but otherwise will have a full compliment.
The home side will be missing some of their senior internationals but only Irish call-ups can lead to postponements under League of Ireland rules.
The most likely dates for the six matches to be played is the first Monday and Tuesday of November as some midweek fixtures are currently scheduled on the weeks beginning 18 and 25 October.
