On a day when Dundalk were able to at least do some of the talking on the pitch, the club's Sporting Director Jim Magilton was unable to shed any light on the drama unfolding behind the scenes at Oriel Park.

Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe scored five minutes from time to give Dundalk a share of the spoils against high-flying St Patrick’s Athletic at Oriel Park.

Junior bundled the ball home from close range just when it looked as though Dundalk were set to slip to their fourth league defeat in-a-row after Sam Bone had headed the visitors in front on 56 minutes.

However, much of the focus was on what is happening off the pitch after team manager Shane Keegan stepped down from his role at the Louth club earlier in the day.

Keegan was appointed as the top man at the start of the season after the club made the decision to demote Filippo Giovagnoli, who doesn't have a UEFA pro licence, from head coach to coach.

However, the Italian still remained in charge of much to do with the side and Keegan's was just one voice of several when it came to first-team matters.

With speculation and rumours swirling that Giovagnoli is also ready to step away from the club, Magilton faced the media after the draw with St Pat’s, but did not elaborate any further on what is happening at the club.

When asked whether or Keegan resigned or was sacked he replied: "We’re not going to make any comment at the minute, we’re going to wait and in due course you will get a statement from the club."

The answer was similar when asked about Giovagnoli’s future. "Again you will get a statement from the club in due course."

Magilton also batted away questions on a possible timeline for that statement or whether or not there is a plan in place for a new managerial set-up.

The Sporting Director was at least more forthcoming in his appraisal of Dundalk performance against St Pat’s and was happy to see them take a point from the game.

"It was important to end that run of defeats," he said. "The only way ever to get out of a situation like that is to stick together and keep going and I think we thoroughly deserved to get something from the game."
