The fine start from Stephen Bradley’s side to the SSE Airtricity League season was halted temporarily by the coronavirus, where after five games they enjoyed a three-point lead over champions Dundalk. The League of Ireland made a welcome return last week and that lead has now been stretched to five.

The Lilywhites were held by St Patrick's Athletic while less than 24 hours later, the Hoops dominated from start to finish in a 3-1 victory over Finn Harps

Add in the news that top-scorer Graham Burke had extended his loan from Preston North End until the summer of 2021, and things are looking very rosy for the Tallaght outfit.

Speaking on the RTÉ Soccer Podcast, Johnny McDonnell says even at this early stage of the campaign, he could see Bradley’s men continue the season unbeaten.

"They have taken up the baton from where they left off," he told listeners. "I think they could go unbeaten for the rest of the season. They’re flying. They have the squad and quality of player.

"They nearly have two teams to pick from, and that’s not including their second team.

"There’s a bit of a spark about them and I think they will score an average of two goals a game until the end of the season and they will be difficult to stop."
