Sligo Rovers' Airtricity League Premier Division clash with Waterford has been called off after a weather warning was issued by Met Éireann on Friday afternoon.

The incoming Storm Jorge is set to bring gusts of up to 145km/h as well as a significant risk of coastal and inland flooding.

Sligo had been scheduled to host the Blues on Saturday night, but the game has been postponed.

"Due to an extreme weather warning put in place for Saturday/Sunday, the fixture, which was scheduled for Saturday, 29 February, will take place on a new date," a league statement read.

"With only necessary travel advised, the decision has been taken on the health and safety grounds of both players and supporters. A new date for the fixture will be announced in due course."
