Dundalk boss Stephen Kenny hailed Michael Duffy's volley against Levadia Tallin as "Marco van Basten-esque" after his side booked their place in the second qualifying round of the Europa League.
The Lilywhites took a 1-0 advantage into the second leg at Oriel Park and raced into a 2-0 lead thanks to Patrick Hoban and then Duffy, who slammed home a terrific effort on 33 minutes.
Levadia got one back before half-time but Dundalk had too much, and move on to a clash with Cypriot side AEK Larnaca. Duffy - a player on Republic of Ireland manager Martin O'Neill's radar - earned extra praise.
"Michael Duffy's goal was really a bit special, worth the admission money - goal of the season probably," Kenny told RTÉ Sport's Tony O'Donoghue.
"It is a Marco van Basten-esque strike on his weaker foot. He's right-footed and he hit it with his left foot coming at an incredible angle on the volley into the top corner. The technique was amazing and something you see very rarely.
"We'd a lot of good performances tonight. Michael was one. Probably the bets player on he park for us tonight was Chris Shields. He doesn't always get the plaudits he's actually playing the best football of his career in my view."
Kenny said his team's display was far from perfect and lamented the concession of Roman Debelko's goal.
He warned that improvement is essential if they are to keep moving through the qualifying stages, while also expressing quiet confidence his men can deal with the challenges ahead.
"It was a cardinal sin conceding before half-time. It changed the complexity of the game, Levadia to be fair played really well in the second half. We were a bit too anxious but 3-1 over the two legs was about right; we deserved to win over the two legs.
"Nothing is easy. We need to play better to beat Larnaca next week. They are a good team. So are we. And we never feel inferior to any team to be honest. We can look forward to that game in Dundalk next week.
"The players are tired because it was a real gruelling effort."
