Harry Arter is facing a race against time for Ireland’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers after being ruled out of Bournemouth’s Premier League clash with Leicester City this weekend.
Cherries boss Eddie Howe says that while the injury isn’t overly concerning, an Achilles strain means the 27-year-old will not feature tomorrow.
"The problem isn’t a serious one, but he is injured and hasn’t trained with the group this week."
The Republic of Ireland international was included from Martin O’Neill’s provisional squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Moldova and Wales next month despite missing Bournemouth’s trip to Everton last weekend.
O’Neill is facing selection issues in midfield with Jon Walters and James McCarthy already ruled out through injury, while James McClean and Robbie Brady are suspended for the visit of Moldova.
Meanwhile there is no timescale in place for Jon Walters' return to action.
Speaking ahead of Sunday’s game away to Everton, Burnley manager Sean Dyche says the club are playing the waiting game as Walters battles his way back from a knee injury.
"It's pretty straight foward in terms of what it is, it's just allowing it time to calm down."
