Drogheda United must claw back a two-goal deficit against Wexford Youths tonight at United Park with a place in the 2017 Premier Division at stake.

Youths earned a 2-0 win in the first leg of the promotion/relegation play-off to leave First Division United with an uphill task tonight.

Danny Furlong and Lee Chin scored the goals for Shane Keegan’s men but Drogs boss Pete Mahon feels his side still have a chance of going up.

The veteran manager said: “We were disappointed with how things went on Monday but there certainly isn’t anything lost. I have absolutely no doubt that we will create enough chances to score but the big question is whether we can take them.

"I expect Wexford to take a similar approach to Cobh in that they will hit it long, pressure our defence and play off the loose balls and we have to be ready for it. The first goal is going to be key and if we get it, the momentum will swing our way.

“We need the crowd to be our 12th and 13th man tonight. I thought they were fantastic on Monday. The place was dead except for our supporters who sang throughout the game.”

Both Sean Thornton (dead leg) and Kevin Farragher (groin) are doubtful for Drogheda and they will require late fitness tests.

Youths will be without Chin as he has opted to attend the All Star awards in Dublin.

Kick-off in Drogheda is 7.45pm.
