Dundalk's red-hot winger Daryl Horgan believes he's not the only player in the SSE Airtricity League that Republic of Ireland boss Martin O'Neill is keeping tabs on.
Horgan was named SSE Airtricity/Soccer Writers' Association Player of the Month for September after a string of superb displays both at home and in the Europa League.
The Galway man's form has resulted in a clamour for his inclusion in the Ireland squad.
O'Neill said last month that Horgan "would certainly have made the provisional squad" for the World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Moldova but for the Lilywhites' busy schedule.
I’m quite confident that Martin O’Neill is looking at a few players in the league, not only me.
The man himself is staying grounded.
“There has been a lot of talk but that’s all it is,” said Horgan when collecting the monthly award for the fourth time.
“It’s been a good year so far. But I’m quite confident that Martin O’Neill is looking at a few players in the league, not only me.
“There is a lot of quality throughout the league but you never know.”
Dundalk hold a four-point lead at the top of the table after their 2-1 victory over Cork City on Tuesday night.
Horgan, with O'Neill watching on, stole the show at Oriel Park. His 25-yard free-kick went in off the back of goalkeeper Mark McNulty to break the deadlock, before a brilliant solo run and finish ultimately decided the crunch clash.
It left Dundalk four points clear of the Leesiders with five league games remaining, but Horgan warned there's still a long way to go.
“We have some very tough games left,” he said. "It’s basically five cup finals. We have Shamrock Rovers up next and we know that won’t be easy because they need a win to guarantee Europe.
“We have a lot of games coming up but as a player, you just want to play in every game.
“It was difficult at the start balancing Europe with our domestic games, but once you get used to it it’s fine.”
