Galway United 0-2 Bray Wanderers

Improving Bray Wanderers registered another SSE Airtricity League Premier Division win against Galway United at Eamonn Deacy Park.

Harry Kenny’s side took a 44th minute lead when Dylan Connolly pounced to score for Harry Kenny’s improving side.

When the action recommenced Bray continued to defend impressively with Tim Clancy and skipper Conor Kenna effective.

A disappointing Galway outfit did create some opportunities, but Bray held on to earn a first away victory of the campaign with substitute Chris Lyons’ goal sealing the deal two minutes from time.

Eager early on, Galway carved a couple of decent opportunities as Tommy Dunne’s team sought to land a blow.

Stephen Walsh, operating at left back, ventured upfield to drill a second minute effort wide with the Tribesmen keen to make a bright start.

In the sixth minute Colm Horgan’s deep cross was met by a looping Marc Ludden header, but the woodwork came to Bray’s rescue.

At the opposite end a left footed John Sullivan shot forced a save from debutant Galway goalkeeper Sam Ramsbottom.

Kevin Devaney thumped a 24th minute effort wide from an acute angle following a clever Vinny Faherty header.

A sharp 33rd minute move featuring Kevin Devaney and skipper Ryan Connolly ended with Faherty forcing a good reflex save from Peter Cherrie.

But on the stroke of half-time Galway were rocked when Dylan Connolly ruthlessly punished a defensive error to drill Bray ahead.

Twelve minutes after the restart a Devaney free-kick was met by a Walsh header, but Cherrie made a routine save.

A deflected Faherty attempt was deflected out for a corner in the 75th minute as Galway searched for an equaliser.

In the closing stages replacements Gareth McDonagh and Lyons combined with the ex Sligo Rovers frontunner netting the insurance goal.
