Non-league Crumlin United pulled off the shock of the FAI Cup second round when they beat Premier Division Finn Harps 1-0 at Ballybofey.

Greg Moorhouse, who scored a hat-trick in the FAI Intermediate Cup final win over Letterkenny Rovers last weekend, netted the winner at Finn Park just after the break to round of a memorable week in the Dublin club’s history.

It was much more straightforward for St Patrick’s Athletic, who beat Limerick-based side Pike Rovers 8-0 to set a new club record win in the FAI Cup.

The Saints were two goals up after four minutes but failed to score in the last half-hour in one of the most one-sided matches in the competition’s history.

Two goals each for Billy Dennehy, Mark Timlin and Graham Kelly and a goal apiece from Michael Barker and Dinny Corcoran ensured Liam Buckley’s men had the most comfortable of routes to the next round.

Kelly missed a chance to complete his hat-trick late on from the penalty spot at Richmond Park on a day to forget for the non-league side.

First Division side Athlone Town face a replay with non-league Letterkenny Rovers after the two sides played out a drab goalless draw in Westmeath. The replay will take place at Lechview Park on Tuesday evening.

Sligo Rovers, who have won the competition three times since 2010, easily saw off the challenge of First Division side Cabinteely at The Showgrounds.

First-half goals from Kieran Sadlier and Jimmy Keohane set the Bit O’ Red on their way with Gavin Peers rounding of the 3-0 win midway through the second period in front of 852 people at The Showgrounds.

A hat-trick from John O’Flynn helped send runaway First Division leaders Limerick into the third round with a straightforward 5-2 win over Leinster Senior League side Bluebell United.

Despite Limerick being drawn as the away side, Bluebell opted to have the game at Markets Field and it was Chris Mulhall that opened the scoring to set Limerick up for their 15th consecutive win.

O’Flynn doubled Limerick’s advantage with a penalty just before half-time, after taking over penalty kick duties from Shane Tracy who missed from the spot earlier in the half.

A second penalty and a goal just before the break ensured O’Flynn went home with the match ball.

Sean Byrne and Toyeeb Mustapha netted in the closing stages for Bluebell but it was Limerick’s Paul O’Connor that got the final goal of the game in stoppage time.

Cobh Ramblers avoided a cup upset by edging past Cherry Orchard 2-1 at St Colman’s Park.

Shane O’Connor gave the First Division side an early lead before Ryan Coombes equalised on the stroke of half-time.

Eoin McGreevy got the decisive goal early in the second-half to put Stephen Henderson’s side into the next round.

Ringmahon Rangers beat fellow non-league side Glebe North 2-1 to book a spot in the third round.

After a goalless first period, Paul Deasy gave the Cork side the lead in the second-half before Roy Kenny scored Rangers’ second of the game a minute after Anthony Burke was sent off for the visitors.

There was still hope for the Balbriggan side when Ciaran O’Connor scored to make it a nervy end for the hosts who finished the game with 10 men.

The final game of the Second Round takes place on Sunday when Janesboro from Limerick take on FAI Junior Cup winners Sheriff YC at Pearse Stadium.
