Richie Towell's contribution towards Dundalk's league and cup double was recognised on Friday evening when he was named the SSE Airtricity/Soccer Writers' of Ireland Personality of the Year for 2015.
Towell bagged 29 goals in a magnificent season for the County Louth club as they retained their Premier Division title and won a first FAI Cup since 2002.
The Dubliner subsequently moved to Championship club Brighton and may make his debut for the Seagulls against Hull City in the FA Cup on Saturday.
Dundalk manager Stephen Kenny and midfielder Daryl Horgan were also in line for the top award at a banquet at the Conrad Hotel in Dublin, where Martin O'Neill and Roy Keane were in attendance.
Lilywhites netminder Gary Rogers was another winner on the night after claiming the Goalkeeper of the Year award.
The Special Merit award went to Arthur Fitzsimons.
Now 86, the Ringsend native played 26 times for the Republic of Ireland over a decade between the late 1940s and '50s.
Fitzsimons' club career included spells at Shelbourne, Middlesbrough, Mansfield Town and Drogheda United, while he also managed Drogheda, Shamrock Rovers and a representative League of Ireland XI.
The Soccer Writers' Association made a presentation to Republic of Ireland legend Damien Duff - a special guest on the night - in recognition of an outstanding career in the game.
Capped 100 times for his country, Duff announced his retirement earlier this month after a glittering career.
