Tommy Dunne says Galway are back where they belong after winning promotion to the Premier Division.

The Connacht side beat UCD 3-0 last night at Eamonn Deacy Park, winning the tie 5-1 on aggregate, and now join Longford Town in the top flight of Irish soccer.

Speaking to RTÉ Sport after the game, Dunne said: “We’re back in the Premier Division – Galway United, which is [where we] should be always, in the Premier Division.”

“[It’s a] fantastic, fantastic feeling. I’d just like to congratulate everybody that’s been involved. They’ve worked so hard from start to finish. The players have been brilliant, the staff have been brilliant.

“The whole club have just been hungry to get there, and to finish it off the way we have [with] the goals and the performance. The last 10, 12 games, we’ve been really, really good.

“We know it’s going to be really tough next year so we’ve got to prepare really well but overall we’ll just enjoy the moment ‘cos these moments don’t come around too often. We’re delighted.”
