Derry City, Bohemians and Shamrock Rovers have progressed to the third round of the FAI Ford Cup after victories today.

Goals from Barry McNamee and Rory Patterson gave Derry a 2-0 win against First Division strugglers Cobh Ramblers.

Bohs, meanwhile, were also deserved winners as they came away from Thomond Park with a 2-1 success over Limerick.

Steven Beattie and Paddy Kavanagh put Owen Heary's men in a commanding position.

Rory Gaffney kept the home side's hopes alive with 21 minutes remaining but the Dublin side saw the game out to secure a last-16 place.

Shamrock Rovers had a comfortable passage to the third round with a 4-0 victory against Leinster Senior League outfit Sheriff YC.

Gary McCabe and Ciaran Kilduff killed off any hopes of an upset with goals inside the first six minutes at Tolka Park.

Kieran Marty Waters and Eamon Zayed added the gloss in the second-half.
