Drogheda United have confirmed that they intend to appeal against the 10-point deduction they were hit with yesterday.
The eircom League's licensing committee yesterday confirmed that were deducting the points as punishment after the club went into examinership.
The decision, as it stands, will cost Drogs a place in Europe next season as the Louth side drop to eighth in the table.
However in a statement, the club said: 'Drogheda United Football Club can confirm that the club will be appealing the deduction. The club feels that it is a unique case and as such, it should be judged on its own merits.'
