Former Rangers manager Dick Advocaat has resigned as head coach of the United Arab Emirates to take charge of World Cup finalists South Korea, the Korea Football Association has announced.
The 58-year-old ex-Holland boss has signed a contract until the end of the World Cup finals, according to the KFA's official website, with the option of an additional year.
Advocaat will be joined in South Korea by Pim Verbeek, who was working with him in the UAE and who also served as Guus Hiddink's assistant when the Koreans reached the semi-finals of the World Cup in 2002.
He replaces fellow Dutchman Jo Bonfrere, who resigned from his position after a series of disappointing results which saw South Korea finish last at the East Asian championships last month and lose 1-0 to Saudi Arabia.
However, the former Qatar and Nigeria coach succeeded in qualifying the South Koreans for their sixth straight World Cup finals.
