Eircom League Premier Division
Shamrock Rovers 2 Longford Town 0

Goals from Shane Robinson and Mark Rutherford gave Rovers the points as Town were left hopping mad by Paul Tuite’s refereeing.

Tuite failed to give Town a clear penalty after Steven Gough tripped Shane Barrett in Town’s utterly dominant first half display.

Town defender Sean Dillon was then sent off for a second booking for kicking the ball away on 56 minutes.

Robsinon dived low to head Rovers in front from Pat Deans’ cross on 68 minutes before Rutherford added the second following great work by Trevor Molloy two minutes later.
