Leeds United midfielderhip footballer Eirik Bakke was today banned from the road for two years, fined £5,000 and ordered to pay £1,000 costs after he was found guilty of drink driving.
Wetherby magistrates heard that the 25-year-old Leeds United player and Norwegian international was arrested outside his home in Leeds in January this year by police checking to see whether his BMW car had been stolen.
Bakke was found guilty by a district judge who criticised the player for trying to delay a breath test procedure at a police station by telling officers he had a poor command of English.
