White named as Dublin City No 2

New Dublin City FC manager John Gill has announced that Noel White will be his assistant manager for the coming season. White, a highly respected figure in Irish coaching circles, joins the club from UCD and links up with Gill as the club assembles a squad for the new season ahead of the April kick-off.

Gill has been busy searching for talent and City have officially completed the capture of Alan O'Connor from Kilkenny. O'Connor was on the mark seven times last season and is reckoned to be a player of exciting potential. Clive Ross, an attacking full-back, has also joined the club from Shelbourne and like O'Connor comes highly rated and will add an exciting dimension to the club's play.

From last year's squad, Paul Crowley, Brendan Kelly and Robert Farrell have resigned while Gill expects to announce more signings in the coming days. He revealed: "I know the kind of player I want to bring in and I hope to make a few signings over the next week. There will be no room for passengers at this club, I only want players who are fit, organised and hungry."

Vikings' Chief Executive Ronan Seery added: "John and Noel have a lot of respective experience and I believe as a management team are capable of delivering a top class package for Dublin City. They are extremely ambitious and have a huge desire to bring success to the club. It promises to be an exciting season for the club and I believe, along with the signings we have made, we have put some of the essential elements in place for us to compete for outright promotion to the eircom Premier Division."
