Dublin City F.C. have announced the departure of manager John Toal who finished the season with a 2-1 win on Sunday over Athlone Town. The club is to embark on a youth development policy and following consulation between both Chief Executive Ronan Seery and Toal it was agreed that in foot of the change in direction the parties mutually agreed John would facilitate the change by vacating first team duties.

Chief Executive Ronan Seery paid tribute to Toal for his commitment to the Dublin City cause. “It has been a difficult season for everyone involved at Dublin City but John has carried out his duties in a thoroughly professional manner and I want to place on record my deep appreciation for those efforts.”

Seery added: “Because of our change in policy it is my belief that a manager with a recognised backround in youth affairs is needed so that new talent and personal can be identified to sustain the club’s push for Premier grade football.”

Said Toal: “In diffucult circumstance, I feel that I done a good job, I was only in the position six months and I was looking to taking the next step with Dublin City but I feel that the youth policy the club is about to embark upon is not the road I wish to take as manager.”
