Mboma hopes to stay at Sunderland

Cameroon's striker Patrick Mboma is hoping that his loan move to Sunderland until the end of the season will become a permanent transfer. There is the prospect over the next couple of months of Niall Quinn and Kevin Kilbane teaming up with last year's African Player of the Year.

Mboma, who is still under contract to Italian side Parma, played a key role in Cameroon's victory in the African Cup of Nations and the Republic of Ireland's opening group game at the World Cup in Japan is against the Cameroons on June 1st.
