Roy Keane's representative Michael Kennedy claims the midfielder may not sign a new contract with Manchester United before the summer. It had been reported over the weekend that the Irish captain would agree a new deal with United within the next fortnight and Kennedy confirmed preliminary talks have begun but claims it could be up to six months before they are concluded.
However, Kennedy emphasised that there is no rush on either Keane or United's part because the Corkman's current deal, believed to be worth in the region of £52,000 a week, does not expire until the end of next season. "He's got 18 months to go yet, so it's still early days," said Kennedy. "There have been some preliminary discussions, but there's a long way to go yet."
