Spurs defender Gary Doherty has praised referee David Elleray for removing a red card from his disciplinary record. Doherty was sent off for a foul on Everton's Kevin Campbell in Tottenham's 1-1 draw, but Elleray admitted his mistake after studying video evidence.
"I think it takes a lot of guts to say you have made a wrong decision. I am delighted the referee admitted he made a mistake. Referees are only human and if they see they have made a mistake and own up to it, you have to give them credit," said the Republic of Ireland star.
