Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Alan Kelly looks set to complete his transfer to Tottenham Hotspur sometime today. The 33-year-old has agreed personal terms with the North London club and is expected to sign for a fee of £600,000.
Kelly signed for his current club, Blackburn Rovers from Sheffield United back in 1999 for a fee of £675,000 following the departure of Tim Flowers. He will now take up an understudy role to Spurs' number one keeper Neill Sullivan, following Ian Walker's recent transfer from Spurs to Leicester City.
Although he is aware he will not be first choice keeper at the club, he is eager for the move nevertheless. "Spurs are a big team and it appeals. I would be an idiot not to listen and discuss with them what they plan for me," he explained.
