Liverpool's Christian Ziege has revealed on his personal website that he is on the verge of joining Tottenham Hotspur. The German international has confirmed that the two Premiership sides have agreed a transfer fee and he is set to sign a contract with the North London club once he successfully completes a medical.
"For me, a move to London from a football perspective was decisive," said the 29-year-old. "With Spurs, I can play in my favourite position on the left side of midfield and Glenn Hoddle wants to build a young squad along with experienced players like me and Teddy Sheringham. I am also looking forward to meeting up with Steffen Freund, an old acquaintance from Germany."
Ziege joined Liverpool from Middlesbrough for £5.5m just over 12 months ago but has not made the desired impact at Anfield and had been linked with moves to Spurs and German side Schalke 04 among others.
