Anthony Hamilton finished off the afternoon action at the Irish Masters snooker tournament at Citywest by completing a 5-2 win over Alan McManus. Stephen Hendry knocked in a couple of centuries in his 5-2 win over Mark Selby and it was 5-1 for Joe Perry over Nick Dyson.
This morning defending champion John Higgins, Matthew Stevens and Jamie Burnett all won through to the second round. Higgins beat Robert Milkins 5-2 and Stevens beat Drew Henry by the same score.
This evening Six-time Crucible runner-up White went down 5-1 to LG Cup champion Chris Small – his sixth successive opening-match defeat in ranking tournaments this term. "I didn't get involved in the match," sighed White, who prevented the whitewash only by winning the third frame. "But I'll keep punching.
"I could have been 3-1 up at the interval - but I could also have been 4-0 down. Chris is very competitive these days, and you have always got to play well against him. But tonight I didn't compete."
