Defending champion John Higgins is already through to the second round of Irish Masters snooker tournament at the Citywest Hotel. Despite a top break of just 60, Higgins overcame Robert Milkins 5-2 this morning.
However, despite his victory, Higgins was far from satisfied with his first-round performance. "It was pretty shocking really. I didn't play well at all. It was just lucky for me that Robert didn't play to the standard he has done all season."
"I'm struggling confidence-wise and that's the main reason. The only way I can get it back is by winning matches against the top players, which I haven't been doing recently."
On the other tables, Matthew Stevens beat Drew Henry, also by five frames to to 2 while Jamie Burnett beat Graham Dott 5-1. Among the players in action this afternoon is the 7 times World Champion Stephen Hendry who takes on Mark Selby.
