Ulster's United Rugby Championship fixture with Connacht has been postponed due to a number of reported Covid-19 cases within the Ulster squad.

The two Irish provinces were due to meet at Kingspan Stadium on Sunday, but the game will now not take place.

"The game was due to take place on Sunday, 26th December in Belfast, however, a number of positive Covid-19 cases within the Ulster Rugby squad have been reported by the province," a URC statement read.

"The URC Medical Advisory Group has liaised with Ulster Rugby and the local health authorities and deemed that the fixture cannot go ahead as scheduled."

It follows on from Wednesday's news that the St Stephen’s Day clash between Munster and Leinster had also been postponed due to reported cases in the Leinster camp.

Leinster's Heineken Champions Cup tie against Montpellier being cancelled last Friday as they dealt with a Covid-19 outbreak, with the French side awarded a 28-0 bonus-point victory much to the Irish province’s displeasure.
