Connacht's Mack Hansen has been called up to the Ireland squad ahead of Saturday’s clash with Japan at the Aviva Stadium (1pm, live on RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player).

The Australian-born winger, who qualifies for Ireland via his Cork-born mother, has impressed for his province in the United Rugby Championship, where he topped the defenders beaten (25) and metres made (321) after five rounds.

The 23-year-old former Brumbies man has scored four tries in five appearances for the Westerners.

Head coach Andy Farrell has no new injury worries from the 38-man squad originally named, however, centre Robbie Henshaw continues rehabilitation on a foot injury in camp.

A bulletin issued at lunchtime today did not rule the Leinster and Lions back out of contention for the opening game of the Autumn Nations series but the 28-year-old, who started all three Lions' Tests against South Africa, is not likely to be rushed back into action.

Munster lock Thomas Ahern and Leinster back Jamie Osborne, who were both included in the squad as development players, have returned to their respective provinces.

Ireland have played Japan nine times, winning eight games with the solitary defeat coming in the 2019 World Cup.
