Munster forward RG Snyman's recovery from a long-term knee injury is progressing well with the giant lock back running.

The World Cup-winning Springbok suffered an anterior cruciate knee ligament tear (ACL) just minutes into his debut for the province in last August's Guinness Pro14 match against Leinster.

"Today was a good day," the 26-year-old second row wrote on his Instagram page.

"First day of running in six months, step by step getting closer to being back on the field. I’ll be back."

Meanwhile, Roman Salanoa was removed with a head injury in Cardiff on Friday and is undergoing return to play protocols, as is Thomas Ahern, who suffered an injury in training.

Ireland internationals Craig Casey, Andrew Conway, Shane Daly and Chris Farrell have all returned from national camp to Munster training this week ahead of Friday's night's derby clash with Connacht at Thomond Park.
