Ulster head coach Dan McFarland described his side's second-half display against Scarlets as "turgid", and warned they must improve sharply ahead of next week's Heineken Champions Cup clash with Harlequins.
Ulster picked up a bonus point in a facile 29-5 Pro14 defeat of Scarlets at Kingspan Stadium having led 24-0 at the break.
They've won their first two European games in Pool 3 and welcome Quins to Belfast in eight days' time, with McFarland demanding an improvement.
"It is nitpicking, but that second half was frustrating," he told RTÉ Sport after watching his team notch a comfortable victory on Friday night.
"We were so dominant in the first half and the game was over and done. It wasn't even like we let them back into it; the game just sort of drifted in the second half. I think we went a little bit away from what we're good at.
"We forgot about what had got us four tries up and wanted to finish things a little bit early, maybe try stuff we didn't need to try.
"It was turgid watching that second half."
McFarland has set high standards for his team. He did have some praise for the showing, which came after a hard-fought win against Clermont and before the first of two match-ups with Quins.
"When the fixture list came out I looked at this one, sandwiched in between two massive Champions Cup games," he said.
"They're a good team, they're second in their conference. They were always going to come highly motivated. They lost a few players to Wales, we've lost a few players to injuries this week. It was always going to be an ask but we responded well to it.
"After starting off with two wins I read a fair bit patting us on the back. I don't see it that way. I don't think we're playing as well as we need to.
"You're always after an 80-minute performance but you certainly need to extend it to more than 30 minutes.
"When Harlequins come next week they'll offer some real defensive strength. They're not conceding many tries in their league and we'll need to find a way of breaking that down.
"The bottom line is we've got win both of those games."
